Photographing the Night Sky (or how to capture the Aurora when it’s not cloudy or blowing a gale) with local photographer,  Mark Appleton

Mark Appleton’s stunning photographs of the Northern Lights in the skies above Gairloch will be known to many. In this talk Mark will share his expertise in taking photographs of the night sky.  He will advise on finding out when the aurora is displaying and what to expect to see with the naked eye.

Mark will also talk about the best camera settings, how to focus and what lenses and kit to use to get the best image without spending a fortune. There will be an introduction to post processing techniques, including how to reduce the dreaded camera noise and how to create time-lapse videos and star trails.

Feel free to bring your camera along for Mark to go through your settings to capture the aurora.
