TREASURES FROM THE ARCHIVES Inverewe’s Untold Story
Location: Inverewe Gardens, Inverewe Gardens Poolewe Wester Ross
Recent research into the history of Osgood Mackenzie and his daughter, Mairi, has uncovered photographs, letters and postcards, game and sketch books amongst the documents which were left in Inverewe House when it was given to the National Trust for Scotland in 1953, and from other archives across the UK. This exhibition uses some of these ‘treasure chests’ to reveal fascinating insights into the family - of their personal lives, including during the First World War, the hunting, shooting and fishing that was their main income source, their travels and the creation of their ‘impossible’ Garden.
